FDA Postpones MoCRA Enforcement by 6 Months

On Nov. 8, 2023, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced it will delay the enforcement of the requirements for cosmetic product facility registration and product listing requirements under the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022 (MoCRA) for an additional six months to help ensure the industry has sufficient time to submit the relative information prescribed.

The new deadline is now on July 1, 2024, six months prolonged of the original Dec 29, 2023 cutoff date.

However it is important to note that this extension only pertains to facility registration and product listing. Cosmetics manufacturers are still obliged to comply with all the other MoCRA standards (safety substantiation, adverse events reporting, etc.) by the time limit of Dec 29, 2023.
