US CPSIA Lead Content
The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) regulates the safety of products made and imported for sale in the U.S. CPSIA testing ensures children’s toys comply with the US Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008. CSPIA specifically targets children’s products. CPSIA defines children's products as any product designed or intended primarily for use by children aged 12 or younger.

CPSIA requirements for total lead content:
• Limit for paint and similar surface coatings: 90 ppm
• Limit for substrate materials (e.g. metals and plastics): 100 ppm

US CPSIA Phthalates
Effective 25 April 2018, toys and childcare articles must be certified by a CPSC accepted third party laboratory on the new phthalates prohibitions1 under 16 CFR 1307.
Limit on the below phthalates is 0.1% by weight, in children’s articles.

US CPSIA Tracking Label
Products that are designed or intended primarily for use by children aged 12 and younger must have obvious permanent marks (tracking labels) that are affixed to the product and its packaging. All tracking label information should visible and legible.
A CPSIA tracking label must include:.
1. The Manufacturer or domestic distributor name
2. Location (city, state or province) and date of where the product was made
3. Batch or run number
4. Any other information to facilitate ascertaining the specific source of the product.

Proposition 65, officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, is a California law that was set out to promote clean drinking water and inform the public about the presence of toxic substances that cause cancer and/or birth defects in consumer products and their environment.
If a product, including foods and supplements, sold in California contains a chemical that is listed on the Prop 65 list of chemicals that are “known to the state to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity”, a warning for the product may be required if exposure to that chemical is above the Safe Harbor Level (if one has been established).
